Lymphatic Drainage in Newcastle
At Chiropractic Plus we are proud to offer lymphatic drainage as one of our services. You may be asking yourself, “what exactly is lymphatic drainage?” Many people may have not heard of this type of procedure before, but our chiropractors are well equipped to explain and answer any questions you may have.
Lymphatic drainage is often referred to as lymphatic massage. It is a technique developed in Germany, that is now practiced worldwide. This is a treatment for lymphedema, which is an accumulation of fluid that can occur after lymph nodes are removed from surgery. An example of this could be after a mastectomy for breast cancer.
Often times lymphatic drainage is referred to as manual lymphatic drainage.
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a type of massage which uses gentle, light-touch, non-invasive techniques designed to encourage and assist the natural drainage of the lymph system, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart. The lymph system depends on intrinsic contractions of the muscle cells in the walls of lymph vessels and the movement of skeletal muscles, to propel lymph through the vessels to lymph nodes and then to the lymph ducts which return lymph to the cardiovascular system. Manual lymphatic drainage uses gentle pressure and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow. At Chiropractic Plus, the therapists who perform Manual Lymphatic Drainage are specially trained in this particular therapy.
Some of the benefits of lymphatic drainage include, detoxification of the body, regeneration of tissue, anti aging effects, relief of sinus issues, relief of bronchitis, and relief for those who have had lymph nodes removed due to surgery. A chiropractor can determine if this procedure is right for you upon consultation. Contact Chiropractic Plus today to schedule!
