Myofascial Trigger-Point Therapy
Myofascial Trigger-Point Therapy is a treatment specifically targeting painful or hyper-irritable points in myofascial tissue (the tissue which surrounds muscular tissue) or the muscle itself, using focused pressure on the pea-sized trigger point until the point releases (usually between 30 and 60 seconds).
Such points can occur anywhere in the body, but commonly develop in the neck and shoulder regions, mid thoracic region and the larger muscles of the gluteal region. This type of treatment is extremely effective in the treatment of headaches, migraine, Restless leg Syndrome and Sciatica.
Chiropractic Plus massage therapists often use Myofascial Trigger-Point Therapy in conjunction with other types of massage including Remedial Massage, Sports Massage and Deep-Tissue Massage.
